I have this thing for metal boxes. Like I almost always carry a small metal box with some vital stationary equipment like pens, pencils, crayons, sharpener, eraser an a small ruler:

Hooray to an airline that isn't handing out nasty plastic "complimentary" kits. Long lasting metal is so much nicer, and clearly appreciated by our frequent flyer and fully qualified airline critic, your dear self!

Wow. I haven't used an actual pencil in ages. I'm with you, though. I keep random things like that from my travels. :-)
