Fat Chance For A Cold

We completed our Martha Stuart like weekend by making 8 kg of elderberry jam.

If you are prone to catch a cold, I highly recommend to make some elderberry jam now. Make it part of your breakfast routine and you will be save. Elderberry jam is probably the most delicious preventive measure mother nature has kindly given to mankind.

Yumm, instead of Holder-Latwerge, I make Syrup, to be enjoyed diluted with HOT water for ( or against) the same ailments.

which one of you, pulled the short straw and had to pick off the berries of the stalks:):):)???

...this ardous task is one of the reasons why I make syrup:) too lazy to pick them off.
Already looking forward to next spring when I can enjoy Holderchüechli etc. again!

Yum this sounds delicious indeed. Have you got a decent recipe?

Come to think of it, I've no idea where I'll get the berries from. Must plan a series of Elderflower bushes in my new garden.

Tono is living life dangerously making elderberry jam in white pants!

So are elderberries really old or do they just like to show them respect by calling them elders?

Sylv: We shared the trouble of picking the berries off the stalks. I agree, it's tedious but it adds so much in flavour that it's worth to do it.

spentrails: well we have this preserving sugar. You take a pack of that sugar and 1 kg of fruits. Cook it up while stirring. Let is boil for 3 minutes. Pour into the glasses (with a silver spoon in it). Put the lid on and finish.

Michael: After picking the berries from the bush the trousers were already full of green spots... Bleaching helped.
