I love
Wikipedia, however, sometimes it's just not in the vanguard of actuality and then it does not quite knock my socks off:
A fire-control system is a computer, often mechanical, which is designed to assist a weapon system in hitting its target. It performs the same task as a human firing a weapon, for example, an archer or rifleman, but attempts to do so faster and more accurately.
As someone who fiddles with fire-control systems, I dare to say that there should be written
"often electronic". There is some progress - slowly but steady.
