Татьяна is Milking for Switzerland

Татьяна, my brother's milker and fiancé, hit the headlines, which read I only milk in Switzerland.

As usual, newspapers are full of lies, since Татьяна is (officially) not even in Switzerland. Her resident permit is expired and the renewal which she requires to tie the knot with my brother takes ages to process. Thus there is still no date set for the wedding. Which is awful, since Toño is so desperate for a party.

Matthew Mitcham On The Advocate

Olympic diver Matthew Mitcham - my personal Best Poster Boy 2008 - made it on the March issue cover of The Advocate (read the story).

The Pile

I'm a news junkie. When I come into a hotel room CNN or BBC News is on before I even put done my bag or take off the shoes. And the first hour of the day is devoted to newspaper reading in bed. So every time I come home from a business trip, I soon start to work on the pile that Toño carefully built for me.

What I got out of the pile? Not much, to be honest:
  • The next major of Zürich could either be a lesbian or a woman that looks younger by the day *yawn*.
  • The Lumix G1 might be my next camera *yeah*.
  • A reviewer dared to say that Antony and the Johnsons' new album The Crying Light is not as good as everyone thinks it is *bastard*.
  • I found the perfect book for the desperately needed holidays in April *longing*.

Goin' Rogue

Governor Palin may have lost the Vice Presidency, however, she seems to have won some diehard devotees at the Horn of Africa. It's about early adapting.

Do I Really Bear No Risk?

Last night I red-eyed back from India*. Toño is at wine fair in Sierre, thus I was only welcomed at The Residence by a pile of newspapers and the post****.

Since weeks if not months the Swiss newspapers run the boring story about the (now) former head of army who passed security clearance despite being investigated for coercion** - and the cowardly handling of the case and public lying by the anyway hopelessly useless minister of defence***.

In the mail there was letter from the Swiss DoD who informed me that the periodic screening of me resulted in the conclusion that I bear no security risk. Bearing in mind the slightly doubtful reputation of the DoD regarding security screening I'm asking myself if I can really depend on me?

* Cool down the sympathy, I had received a complimentary upgrade to first class. I'm typing this in a Lufthansa pyjama.
** He was accused to have sent randy suitors to the address of his former girlfriend. Truly a creative version of stalking
*** He is despite being hardly able to move his buttocks also minister of sport.

Bear the Consequences

I reckon you heard about the rogue trader that caused his French bank Societe Generale a loss of 4.9bn euros ($7.1bn; £3.7bn). While we were reading the papers in bed, Toño asked "Is there the possibility that he might loose his job?" Well, I'm not a prophet...
