Maverick Gigot

Yesterday, Toño asked me what I would like to have for dinner. My usual response is either pasta or something with chicken. Yesterday it was pasta. Toño did not oblige and brought half a leg of lamb (or Gigot as we and the French call it).

Sometimes (only sometimes!) it is not all bad, when Toño goes maverick.

I didn't know gigot meant lamb. The first thing I thought of when I saw the post title was the movie Gigot, starring Jackie Gleason. I saw it on TV when I was 11 or 12; it and Silent Running were the first two movies that made me cry.

@Mr. HCI... The title of the post might be a bit misleading. Gigot does not stand for the entire lamb. A Gigot is only a leg of mutton or lamb for cooking.
I heard about the movie Gigot but I've never seen it.
I first heard the term Gigot when I was younger than 10 in a sketch by some comedians. One of the characters was frightened of flying . One fear was that the plane might run over a sheep while starting. The other character answered that then they will have to put again Gigot on the menu of the airport restaurant. I had then to wait more that 10 years until I actually had some Gigot

And now I can't eat Gigot without thinking of that lame sketch.

Looks like Polenta to me. It all looks soooo scrummy.

@Pilgrim & Mickle... Risotto au safran (saffron). Though Polenta or cou-cous would be a good idea as well.

Ah - you got me with the saffron!
